Following the recent harvest of apples from our own orchard, thanks to the help of girls in Years 7 and 8, 1500 bottles of apple juice have been produced and are now on sale at £2.50 per bottle. This 'Apple Heaven' was deemed delicious at a recent tasting by staff and pupils.
Thank you to all the Year 7 and 8 girls who helped to pick apples from our orchard. Prizes were awarded this week in Assembly to the following forms who had the biggest turnout for the apple picking: 7α, 8B, 8ω.
Thank you to Mrs Chapman, who has once again organised the production of Apple Heaven. She said, "I am delighted to tell you that we will be using money raised by sales this year for Dr Bright's charity which she started 11 years ago to support a school founded initially for war-orphaned children, based in a very deprived area in Sierra Leone. The children were looked after by members of their community who were themselves very poor. Eight years ago, Dr Bright took at step of faith and decided to 'Feed the Hungry' by providing a hot meal for about 100 children, free of charge every school day. Thanks to the generosity of Farnborough Hill staff, Becket House, the rest of the school community and her church, meals are still being provided today. The feedback is that attendance is high as the children go to school being assured of a nourishing meal and also because they are healthier. The injection of regular funds is therefore essential to continue supporting this worthy project so if you buy a bottle you will be helping to feed the hungry."
