Cross Country Senior District Championship Winners

Cross Country Senior District Championship Winners

Last Thursday, our Under 15 and Under 17 cross country teams were thrilled to win gold at the Senior District Championships.

The first race involved our Under 15 team, consisting of Year 8 and 9 runners. They all ran with great gusto in what is always a incredibly tough course. It was a cold day and the Under 15s were shivering on the start line waiting for the start of the race. Rebecca, despite running in an age group where many of the runners were a year older, finished in 2nd place. Amelia finished in 3rd place and both girls received an individual medal. Well done to the rest of the Under 15 team: Ava (9th), Freya (19th), Lauren (21st) and Sophie (22nd); their fantastic efforts resulted in the Under 15 team finishing overall in 1st place and receiving team gold medals.

In the Under 17 race, Kiki finished in 1st place, becoming this year’s District Champion for the second year running. Emma (Year 11) ran her last district cross country race and finished in 2nd place. Both girls received an individual medal. The other runners in the team performed fantastically too: Rosie (5th), Ruby (11th), Olivia (10th) and Lois (13th). Their combined finishes placed them 33 points ahead of all other teams and earned the team gold.

A special congratulations to our Year 11 runners, Emma, Livvy and Lois. The District Schools Championships are for Years 7 to 11 only and so this was their last year running in this event. All three girls have represented the School over the years in some really tough races and have always given their best performance; each year without fail they have qualified for the Hampshire Schools – an impressive achievement!
