Drama Pupils from Farnborough Hill Win First Place at ISA Shakespeare Awards

We are delighted to announce that Lara (9A), Megan (10ω) and Alyssa (10ω) have all won first place in their various categories in the prestigious ISA Shakespeare Awards held in March 2023.  Around 150 candidates from 52 schools entered the competition and were required to perform a monologue either from Shakespeare, an original monologue or one based on Anne Hathaway.

Our intrepid finalists all had the necessary appeal: Lara (9A) and Megan (10ω) both won first place for their own monologues on the life of Anne Hathaway, whilst Alyssa (10ω) won first place for her original monologue based on Caliban from The Tempest.  The candidates were required to research the play / history and then construct a monologue to suit.

The brief also asked that the performances be recorded, which enabled us to exploit the beautiful surroundings and setting at Farnborough Hill.  The winners are invited to join the other winners at the Shakespeare Trust and visit Anne Hathaway’s House in Stratford where they will have a workshop on Macbeth.

We think that you will agree that the girls have fared exceptionally well and done us proud.  Many congratulations.
