Farnborough Hill's Inaugural Mother's Day Market

Farnborough Hill's Inaugural Mother's Day Market

On Wednesday 15 March, Farnborough Hill held its inaugural Mother’s Day Market.  A collaboration between Mrs Lucy Miller’s Business and Economics Young Enterprise Teams, Mrs Nelle Dalton’s CAFOD Young Leaders and our very own Library Duck Squad came together to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Young Enterprise had three stalls selling a variety of gifts for Mums and Mothers-at-heart.  Serendipity sold Mother’s Day cards that could be planted afterwards, as well as jewellery.  The company called Nuu sold hand crocheted snoods and travel mug warmers.  Constellation sold t-shirts, tote bags, sterling silver rings and necklaces that were based around angel numbers.  Duck Squad also made bunting out of an old book to decorate the Library for the event.

CAFOD had a Make Your Own Card stall, whilst Duck Squad made Mother’s Day origami.  The market opened at lunchtime and there was a steady flow of pupils and staff purchasing gifts or trying their hand at origami and creating a real buzz about the Library.

We also had a Mentimeter Word Cloud and asked the girls to commit their top three words that they associate with the word Mother.  There were some lovely words such as ‘caring’, ‘love’, ‘unconditional’, ‘supportive’ and ‘kind’.  Some favourites were the wildcard words, like ‘cats’, ‘hoovering’, and ‘right!’ Because of course all Mums are right.
