Inter-House Sports Afternoon 2022

Inter-House Sports Afternoon 2022

On Tuesday 5 July, the Whole School ascended on the Athletics track for Inter-House Sports Afternoon which was met with lively energy.  The afternoon started with Lucy’s Loop; an 8 x 170m relay race in memory of Old Girl, Lucy Pygott.  Then the track and field events began; competitions such as the 800 metre race, Javelin and High Jump are just some examples of what could be seen.

The amazing DJ-ing skills and questionable dancing was thanks to both the Upper and Lower Sixth running the announcements.  A special thanks goes to Miss Naomi Lynch for creating such a good playlist.  There were also stalls run by The Friends of Farnborough Hill and the CAFOD Young Leaders, and the appearance from the Sir Whippy ice cream van proved very popular as the queue grew to quite a considerable length.  Pupils and parents were grateful for the opportunity to sit together, spectate the afternoon’s events and spend time as a community.

The day finished with the teacher and Sixth Form relay and the announcement of the House winner.  The relay was won by the Physical Education Department with the help of Mr Perkins' excellent sprinting.  The results of the day are as follows:

  House Points
1 Mostyn 520
2 Dutertre 518
3 McCormack 512
4 Roantree 473
5 Bickford 391

The fabulous afternoon would not have been made possible without the organisation, support and enthusiasm from all that helped and spectated - from those taking photos to those doing times and organising what looked like a very complex spreadsheet of points.  An extra special thanks goes out to the PE Department; we appreciate all they did to make the day so enjoyable for everyone.
