Introducing the Lafosse Sixth Form Centre

Introducing the Lafosse Sixth Form Centre

On Tuesday 6 September, the long-awaited Lafosse Sixth Form Centre was unveiled to the School for the first time after much anticipation.  Head Girl, Charlotte (U6SUT), cut the ribbon to the new centre before a crowd of buzzing sixth formers and staff.  The Lafosse Centre took what was formerly the quad and transformed it into a brand new two-storey build, encompassed in glass and natural light, to facilitate each and every need of the Sixth Form students.  A special effort was made to ensure that the ambience and brickwork of the old house remained unchanged, creating an effortless equilibrium between the new and the old whilst remaining authentically Farnborough Hill at core.

The opening of the centre came after the announcement that the newly-named Destaillieur and Gilbert Scott flats would now be accommodating an equal mix of students from both years, allowing for greater integration across the Sixth Form and really strengthening our community as a whole; the shared space of The Lafosse Centre will be a key asset in achieving this goal.  The two Sixth Form areas will provide both social and group working areas on each floor and the flats will be used for quiet individual study.

We were then delighted to welcome The Right Reverend Dom Cuthbert Brogan, OSB, Abbot of Farnborough on Friday 23 September 2022 to bless our new Lafosse Sixth Form Centre in a simple, but beautiful service During the blessing, Ms Alexandra Callaghan welcomed everyone and Sister Elizabeth McCormack reminded us of the significance of Abbé Louis Lafosse whose commitment to the education of young women led to the founding of the Sisters of the Religious of Christian Education.  Our Chair of Governors, Mr Gerry McCormack, also said a few words and we had a lovely vote of thanks again given by our Head Girl, Charlotte (U6SUT).

Our new space was the perfect backdrop to our Sixth Form Information Evening on 22nd September when we welcomed over 100 Year 11 families to find out more about what awaits them in Sixth Form. You can find out more here.
