ISA Monologue Winners were treated to a trip to Mary Arden's Farm, Wilmcote, and given the opportunity to participate in a Drama workshop hosted by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
Megan (10ω) reported back on the day:
"My prize for winning the ISA Shakespeare Monologue competition with my original Anne Hathaway monologue was a visit to Mary Arden’s Farm on Monday 24 April.
As part of our prize, the winners received a farm tour where we saw rare breeds of animals such as Tamworth pigs, Shire horses, and Jacob sheep, and experienced what life was like in Shakespeare's time. We also participated in a fantastic Shakespeare Birthplace Trust drama workshop and, later, all the winners had the incredible opportunity to perform their monologues in various locations around the farm to an audience of peers and members of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. It was a fantastic experience to perform at a site which holds such close links to William Shakespeare."
Alyssa (10ω) added:
"Travelling to Stratford-Upon-Avon for winning my category for a self-written monologue was incredible. It was amazing to see the houses and area of Shakespeare's birthplace and I loved the Shakespeare acting workshop. For my monologue performance, I was given an outdoor space with trees to mark out my stage. Working in such a historically significant environment really helped me to bring the character to life and fostered a greater depth to my performance."
