Farnborough Hill Old Girl, Sophie Farrelly (2019), was awarded an Army STEM Scholarship to study Biomedicine. After graduating with First-Class Honours from the University of East Anglia, Sophie commenced officer training at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in September 2022.
On Friday 14 April 2023, Sophie was hugely privileged to talk to King Charles III during his inspection of troops at the RMAS Sovereigns’ Parade. She was further privileged to be selected to represent RMAS, as one of only 27 officer cadets who will march on the King’s Coronation Parade tomorrow.
Selection for the King’s Coronation Parade meant that, whilst other officer cadets were able to enjoy two weeks of stand-down between terms, Sophie and the other selected officer cadets had to forgo twelve days of their leave for Coronation Parade preparation and rehearsals.
Throughout the night of Tuesday 2 / Wednesday 3 May she participated in a full dress rehearsal in London, alongside thousands of other British and Commonwealth troops; even that in itself was an amazing experience. Sophie is immensely proud that tomorrow she will be part of British history in the making, marching on the King’s Coronation Parade. Needless to say all her family, including her sister Phoebe (U6SUT), are also extremely proud.
Sophie will return to RMAS next week to start her final term of officer training at the end of which she will be commissioned into The Royal Logistic Corps.
