Year 7 pupil, Imogen, has had a very exciting experience over the past term: playing Jane Banks in Mary Poppins The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End. Last week, the Year 7s enjoyed a wonderful day out to watch their friend on stage.
Mrs Clare Duffin was thrilled to accompany the girls. She reviewed the show:
“In a most impressive show in terms of set, lighting and costume, as well as superb acting and dancing, Imogen shone brightly. She is an amazing actor and her performance was pitch perfect. Her teachers and I were very impressed with her and so proud that she is a Farnborough Hill pupil. It was also great to spend quality time with the Year 7 girls who were impeccably behaved; they are such a delightful Year Group. As you can imagine they were really excited to support their classmate and Imogen was very happy to know that her friends were in the audience; Imogen’s mum said it was lovely to hear the girls’ loud support and cheers.”
Mrs Emily Harrison added:
“The show was spectacular. It was full of singing and dancing and the costumes and staging were fabulous. We saw flying kites, a flying Mary Poppins, life size puppets and there was even a moment when Bert tap danced horizontally on the walls and then upside down. We very much enjoyed the well-known musical numbers - 'Chim chim cher-ee’, ‘Spoonful of sugar’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’. It was a wonderful day!”
We spoke to the star, Imogen, too:
“This is the first time Mary Poppins has been back in the West End for 15 years. It has been an amazing experience to be in such a wonderful show. I have been working with so many talented people such as Sir Richard Eyre, Sir Matthew Bourne and Sir Cameron Mackintosh and many others who have guided me and taught me so much along the way.
We rehearsed for over two months before the show was brought to life at The Prince Edward Theatre. It is such a dream to work with wonderful people and to have such a kind and caring cast and creative team. We are all like one big family, which is lovely to have. Working at Mary Poppins has been a magical and very special experience and something I will treasure forever!
If you too want to live up to your dreams then do it, as I truly believe you can!”
Many congratulations, Imogen, on a spectacular performance – everyone at Farnborough Hill is very proud of you!
