Act of Remembrance

Act of Remembrance

On Monday 12 November 2017 the whole school gathered in our beautiful Chapel for an Assembly and Act of Remembrance.  This was a very moving event which included poems, prayer, music and reflection.

The service began with the Senior Choir singing 'Let Us Now Praise Famous Men' by Vaughan Williams.  The Deputy Head then reflected on what Remembrance means to us and illustrated this powerfully with personal experience.  Poetry from the First World War - 'In Flanders Field' by John McCrae and 'For the Fallen' by Laurence Binyon, were read and a wreath of poppies was laid on the altar.

This was followed by the 'Last Post', Miss Warwick's trumpet-playing ringing out around the Chapel and then two minutes' respectful silence from all present.  The service ended with prayer.
