Busy Bees Day

Busy Bees Day

Sixth Form ‘Beekeepers’ were buzzing with excitement to welcome Year 5 Busy Bees to taster days at Farnborough Hill. Thanks to the massive demand for places, for the first time we held two days – one on Friday and the next on Tuesday – allowing as many girls as possible to experience a day at the School.

The days opened with ice-breaker games run by the Beekeepers, allowing the Busy Bees to settle in and start to form all-important friendships. Then, the lessons began! Each Bee had chosen a programme of 4 taster lessons which reflected her interests; offerings ranged from core academic subjects to Sports, Drama and Art. A Classics treasure hunt was a particular highlight, as was the Maths relay in the Maths lesson, with the winning team receiving vouchers for the tuck shop. The tour of the School by the History teacher was a novel way to experience some living History and, over in MFL, some Bees learnt basic Spanish to see them through their holidays! Down in the Sports Department girls swam and played Cricket and Netball, while over in Art they sampled painting and tried Ceramics, where they made beautiful flowers adorned with bees.

It was truly wonderful to see each Bee blossom during the course of the day, coming up the hill with some trepidation but going back down buzzing with happiness thanks to new friendships, new experiences and the prospect of attending Farnborough Hill in the future.

Thank you to all of the Beekeepers and staff who helped to make the day, and to the Bees themselves for their infectious enthusiasm for all that the School offered!
