Choir Tour to Tuscany

Choir Tour to Tuscany

Choir relaxing in TuscanyFarnborough Hill's Senior Choir loves to sing in different places and this year was no exception when they set off for Tuscany as soon as the Summer Term ended last July.  Over 40 girls, accompanying staff and friends of the choir flew to Pisa and spent a week in the beautiful spa town of Montecatini Terme.  The daily routine involved a rehearsal in the hotel foyer each morning and daily concerts plus relaxing by the hotel pool, sightseeing and, of course, shopping.

Concerts took place in various venues including churches in Florence and San Gimignano, an old people's home on the coast, an open-air colonnaded spa and finally on the mountain-side by a castle in Montecatini Alto.  The choir sang from their vast repertoire of secular and sacred music and were delighted by the reception they received from their audiences.  It was challenging at times, not least because Italy was experiencing a heatwave in July and temperatures soared to over 40ºC!

The tour was organised brilliantly by Mrs Phillips and was tinged with sadness as this was her last tour due to her retirement in July 2015.  We thank her for all the work she put in to making the tour such a wonderful experience for all involved.  Grateful thanks also to the other staff accompanying the trip - Dr Taylor, Mr McSweeney, Dr Bright and Miss Andrews.
