DofE Training Walk

DofE Training Walk

On Saturday 4 March 2017 students in Year 10 working for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award went out on a training walk in preparation for their expedition which will be assessed later as part of the award.

Girls enjoyed their training walk despite changeable weather. They worked in mixed groups developing navigation and teamwork skills. They quickly discovered that not all paths are shown on the maps and that taking bearings and pacing distances are essential. Hopefully they can each bring new skills to their team for their practice expedition in May.

Well done to all the girls who took part and a special thanks to all the Farnborough Hill staff who accompanied them, Mrs Brocklehurst who does a magnificent job of coordinating all our DofE activities and the external specialist DofE staff whose support is so invaluable.
