Duke of Edinburgh - Bronze Expedition

Duke of Edinburgh - Bronze Expedition

Congratulations to 42 Year 10 girls who completed their assessed Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) expedition over the weekend of 11 - 12 June 2016. After weeks of planning and mapping out routes, the excited group set off by minibus early on Saturday morning for the New Forest.  After being dropped off, they spent the day finding their way to their campsite, carrying all the equipment and food needed for the two days.

After a night in the campsite, the girls packed up and set off again spending the day with their maps heading for the final pickup point. Everyone arrived as planned despite some rain and mud and the odd wrong turning!  Particular highlights included birthday cake with candles on the Saturday evening, walking through beautiful countryside and lots of New Forest ponies.  Accompanying staff also complimented the girls on their excellent behaviour throughout the trip.

To complete the Bronze Award, the girls now need to give a presentation at the end of June about their expedition and complete their physical, voluntary and skills sections.  Achieving all this requires a great deal of commitment from the girls and we wish them every success with finishing all the tasks.

Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the staff who organised the weekend and provided support during the expedition - Mrs Brocklehurst, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Zimmerman and Mr Temple.
