EPQ Presentations

Five Year 13 students (pictured) gave fantastic EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) presentations to their peers and teachers on Tuesday 15 March 2016.  All of the topics and titles related to their personal interests, were well-researched and confidently delivered:

• Lauren, who is applying to read geography at university, began proceedings by speaking about her project on West African culture and the Ebola virus. 
• Natasha, an aspiring linguist, continued with an interesting presentation on language learning for both adults and children.
• Hannah, who is intending to read history next year, spoke about the causes of the 1984 Miners' Strike, drawing on an interview she had conducted with a police officer at the time to build her case.
• Sangeeta then spoke about whether it should be mandatory for dentists to give smoking cessation advice.
• Lydia concluded the talks with a her topic, the age of consent for surgery.  Both Sangeeta and Lydia are aspiring medics: Sangeeta for dentistry and Lydia for nursing.

The students were all also highly reflective on the process and skills learned through this qualification.  It was a super day and great preparation for their degree courses and future careers.  Well done, girls!
