Farnborough Hill girls bucked the trend again this year! Reports in the press talked of a record decline in GCSE results but the story was very different at Farnborough Hill. Everyone was delighted to discover that the GCSE girls had gained outstanding results with A* grades up on last year to an impressive 25% of all results. A brilliant 58% of all the results were at A*-A and 87% at A*-B. An amazing 18 girls achieved A*/A grades in all their subjects and 9 girls had at least 10 A* grades.
Top performers with 11A*s were: Molly (11a), Eleanor (11B), Imogen (11A), Natasha (11A), and with 10A* 1A Olivia (11?) (all girls having studied Ancient Greek for fun in an extra-curricular club!); with 10A*: Catriona (11a), Felicity (11?), Elizabeth (11a) and Annabel (11A). Other girls who performed extremely well were: with 9A* 1A Emily (11a), with 8A* 2A Catherine (11a) and Lucy (11a), with 7A* 3A Paige (11a) and Elizabeth (11a), with 7A* 2A 1B Alice (11?) and Charlotte (11a), with 6A* 3A 1B Katy (11?) and Issy (11?) and with 6A* 2A 2B Jessica (11B). There were also some huge personal triumphs among the girls with more modest results and everyone is equally delighted with these girls’ successes.
Despite announcements that maths and science grades are dropping the outcomes at Farnborough Hill are quite the reverse with superb results in all the STEM subjects. Results in languages were also excellent, for example 74% of Spanish grades were at A*/A.
Headmistress, Mrs Alex Neil, said ‘We are absolutely delighted with these outstanding results! The girls have obviously thrived in this all-girls environment and I know the staff have really enjoyed teaching them; they are a credit to the school. I am looking forward to working with the girls as they start on their Sixth Form adventure.’
