Farnborough Hill's Got Talent

Farnborough Hill's Got Talent

This half term ended on an exuberant note with the 4th annual 'Farnborough Hill's Got Talent' inter-house competition.  The girls worked hard to put on a great show and the enthusiastic audience loved it!  Each house was challenged to put together two 3 minute-long entertainments involving girls from across the year groups and with no girl appearing more than once.  The girls had to plan and execute their performances themselves and they all did a brilliant job.

The performances were well-prepared and varied.  They included humour, great costumes, music composed and played by students, arrangements for instrumentalists and were packed with energy and fun.  Well done to all the performers and to the audience whose enthusiastic encouragement helped to make the event so successful.

The acts were as follows:

Becket House
Group dance – James Bond
Bollywood dance – Lets Nacho

Campion House
Group dance – Medley from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Ballroom dancing – Strictly Starlets

Fisher House
Singing duet – Don’t Cry for me Argentina
Group dance – Camp Rock

Howard House
Band – Not Today
Group dance – Dance School

More House
Group dance – Waka Waka (This time for Africa)
Group song – The Cup Song

The event was masterminded by Dr Quinnell, Head of Becket House and was ably MC’d by his house captains, Isabella and Alex. We were delighted to welcome back former Head of English, Dr Jo Russell, together with Mrs Riordan and Mrs Cullen who judged the competition.  After some deliberation and some entertaining feedback from Dr Russell, the results were announced as:

  • 1st place - Howard House
  • Joint 2nd place - Fisher and Becket Houses
  • 3rd place - Campion House
  • 4th place - More House

Thank you to all those behind the scenes who helped to make this such a happy and uplifting event, in particular Mr Mellor, Mrs Peilow and Mrs de Mattos  Thank you also to the judges, the Heads of House, Dr Quinnell for his brilliant organisation and Mr Hoar for his helpful oversight of the whole event.
