F'Hill Radio's 5th Birthday

F'Hill Radio's 5th Birthday

F'Hill Radio celebrated 5 years of broadcasting today (2 November 2016)! The occasion was marked by a very special show presented by Hannah (13MAC) and our guest presenter Karl Stiles from 96.4 Eagle Radio. The rest of the crew were on hand to give out jaffa cakes to students who came to request songs as well as running a quiz with the brilliant prize of an iTunes voucher! It was a roaring success and a fantastic way to mark the special milestone.

Launched in October 2011, F’Hill Radio is Farnborough Hill’s very own radio station, available to be listened to in all classrooms before school and at lunch time, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. With radio shows planned and produced by our talented sixth form students and trained and guided by dedicated radio staff, the Radio Station has been very popular with students throughout the school.  The sixth form presenters' musical tastes are vast and our musical repertoire of hits is huge, ranging from ABBA to Zayn Malik, so students are guaranteed to find a tune to their liking. The shows are wide and varied, from chart music on F'Hill Good Friday to classic tunes from years gone by on Rewind Wednesday.  Our presenters keep the shows interactive with competitions and giveaways as well as welcoming musical requests and shout-outs from their listeners. Our roving reporters catch all the gossip and news providing up to date interviews and reports.  Teacher take-over shows have been immensely popular and students love to hear the staff present the weekly Monday morning slot.

Earlier in the term our new F'Hill Crew attended a tailor-made radio course at Eagle Radio's studios in Guildford where they learned presenting skills and gained experience with their high tech equipment (much of which is mirrored in our own state-of-the-art studio).  Taking part in this brilliant sixth form enrichment activity gives the girls great experience and is lots of fun too.  Everyone in school is looking forward to listening their shows over the coming months.
