Future Chef - Regional Winner

Future Chef - Regional Winner

On Saturday 30 January 2016, Mrs Goddard went to All Hallows School in Farnham with Yasmin (8A), Katherine (9B) and Danni (8A) to take part in the regional Future Chef Competition.  This successful competition is promoted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.

The girls had to prepare, cook and serve a three course healthy meal for two people, costing no more than £15 in two hours.  Paul Hollywood would have been impressed!  They also had to submit costings, timeplans and reasons for choice.

The girls were judged not only on a quality outcome and beautiful presentation, but correct working methods, safety, hygiene and the ability to work under pressure.

Mrs Goddard was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and maturity of the girls, not to mention the standard of their work, particularly as they were the younger contestants.

Their dishes included:

  • Oriental duck breast served with a hazelnut infused cous cous accompanied by carrot batons
  • Spiced coconut prawns
  • Sumptuous rose apple bakes served with a raspberry coulis, a dusting of icing sugar and a velvety pomgranate mousse topped with pomegranate seeds

Katherine was placed first in the regional competition and Yasmin came second and both girls will take part in the semi-final at Oxted School next week.  Congratulations to all three girls for their excellent achievement.
