The More House Fashion Show is a much anticipated event in the annual Farnborough Hill calendar and was held this year on Friday 17 March 2017. Each year, More House hosts this special event which requires each house to produce an outfit using only recycled materials. These are then modelled by one of our very own teaching staff/super models. A fantastic array of hand crafted garments are displayed on the catwalk much to the enjoyment of the audience. The theme is kept top secret, and is only announced half an hour before the creations have to be displayed on the catwalk, meaning that girls only have a very short time to bring their visions to life.
The theme was “Under the Sea” and once this was announced, girls very quickly got to work dressing their models. Mr Maccherini (Becket House) was transformed into the Sea God Poseidon with a striking crown made of straws. Mrs Campbell (Campion House), became a beautiful mermaid complete with mermaid tail, fish companions and a sea trident. Mrs Barker (Fisher House) was an elegant jelly fish with flowing tentacles. Mrs McCarthy (Howard House) was a fabulous and very convincing star fish, and Mrs Haynes (More House) was transformed into a rather sparkly and colourful mermaid.
Once the outfits were completed, models showed off their garments on the stage. The judges (Mrs Neil and Mrs Griffiths) then had to judge the outfits, taking into consideration the likeness to the theme, variety of materials used, creativity and the ‘wow’ factor. With all of the Houses creating some fabulous under the sea themed costumes, Campion House won first prize with Mrs Campbell as a mystical mermaid, followed by Mrs McCarthy and Howard House’s starfish creation coming in second, and Becket, Fisher and More coming in joint fourth place.
Very well done to all of those who took part in creating the outfits, our judges Mrs Neil and Mrs Griffiths, our five models, and to Mrs Camprubi-Reches for organising the event.
