Moving Experience for Year 9 at Ypres

Moving Experience for Year 9 at Ypres

On Friday 18 March 2016 Year 9 made their annual trip to the battlefields and cemeteries of the Ypres Salient. They visited Langemark and Tyne Cot cemeteries, explored the bunkers and trenches at the Passchendaele Museum and witnessed the playing of the last post underneath the Menin Gate.

The two birthday girls on the trip enjoyed the experience of being dressed up as World War One ‘Tommies’. It was a particularly poignant visit for one member of 9 Omega who was able to visit the grave of her Great Uncle and another in 9 Alpha who found the name of her relative on the Menin Gate itself.

Many thanks to all the staff who accompanied the trip and Year 9 who were a delight to spend the day with.
