Old Girls' Reunion

Old Girls' Reunion

On Saturday 21 September we hosted the annual Farnborough Hill Old Girls' Reunion.  We were delighted to welcome 150 Old Girls and their families who joined members of the Community and former staff for a joyous afternoon revisiting their old school and catching up with friends.  The weather was perfect and the School grounds looked immaculate. Old Girls were proud to show off the School to their loved ones whilst admiring the many sympathetic changes made since their own school days. There were large groups celebrating their 20th and 30th anniversaries and Sister Veronica Rennie and Helen Campbell (née Fermie) were celebrating their 75th anniversary.

There was a busy programme of activities throughout the afternoon.  Mrs Lori Winch-Johnson entertained everyone with a video of her play 'Lafosse' in the Theatre on the Hill. Our younger guests enjoyed dressing up in St Cecilia's Music Suite and making clay models in St Anne's Art Centre as well as orienteering, a scavenger hunt and 'Find the Buzz'. A delicious afternoon tea was provided and served by Farnborough Hill's catering team. This was followed by a moving Thanksgiving Service in the Chapel with old favourites sung by the School Choir and memories from Head Girl, Amanda Steimberg (née Cowler), reminding us of life at Farnborough Hill in the 1980s.

An Old Girl from 1960s wrote this fitting tribute:

'Saturday was such a wonderful day - the sun shone -  the School was looking marvellous and although Ann Berry (née Tristram), Sister Rennie and Sister Josephine were the only people I recognised and indeed knew, none of that mattered because everyone was so friendly. The tea was delicious and the service in the Chapel with those wonderful acoustics just transported me back oh so many many years!!! The last reunion I attended was the centenary, so I saw big changes. I loved the music department - so very impressive. Many thanks to all those who organised the day and made it such a memorable occasion.'

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this a very special day.
