Special Presentation During Sports Assembly

Special Presentation During Sports Assembly

This week's whole school Assembly included a celebration of school sports achievements so far this term, a summary of which is included below.  Please see our Sports Blog for more details.

The Assembly ended with a very special presentation by Mr Dave Adams, Chairman of the Aldershot & District Schools Athletic Association.  He awarded the Vice-President's Trophy to Charlie (13PEN) for her outstanding contribution, showing reliability, loyalty and commitment as a district schools athlete.  Many congratulations to Charlie (pictured with Mr Adams) on receiving this prestigious award.

Overall this term we have had over 260 girls taking part in a PE club or team with over 40 girls attending 3 or more clubs.  Here are some of the highlights so far:

Cross Country

Hockey

Our hockey teams have been training hard.  They have played 14 matches so far this year with a 50% success rate.  We are playing different and more competitive sides this year.

Hampshire County Tournament - U14 and U16 teams - both came 4th battling hard and improving their play as the tournament progressed.

Independent Schools Hockey Cup -  U13 and U15 teams - both reached the 2nd round but were beaten by Redmaids School in Bristol and Burgess Hill respectively.

Cricket

Congratulations to Katy (7 Alpha) who has been selected for the North Hampshire District Cricket Team.

Netball

It has been an extremely successful season so far for all our netball teams.  The Year 8 and 9 netball squads were lucky to be given the opportunity to attend the GSA Netball Tournament:

In District tournaments our Year 11 team were runners up.

Year 10 District Netball Tournament

We have played 22 matches so far this term which have been both District league fixtures and friendly matches against local independent schools.  This year we are able to get out A, B and C teams in years 7 to 10 which was an amazing achievement.  In our matches so far we have had an 80% success rate proving how strong a sport this is at Farnborough Hill.  In the County tournaments our U14 team came 5th and our U16 team came 3rd.  We have high expectations for our U14 team next year to come in the top 2 teams and qualify for the national finals.

Swimming

Badminton

At the KS4 event we came runners up to a strong Robert Mays A team.  At the KS3 event we entered 3 teams and came 1st, 2nd and 3rd!  A special well don to the A team who have qualified for the County finals at the end of January 2017.
