Despite this summer's mixed weather so far, our annual Inter-House Sports Afternoon on Friday 24 June 2016 was blessed with sunshine and a breeze, perfect for an afternoon of competitive sport for Years 7-10.
With a change of format this year, the competition was athletics-based with a series of running and field events. As many girls as possible were encouraged to take part and they put everything into the competition winning lots of points for their houses. Events included sprints, relays, long-distance runs, hurdles, javelin, shot put, high jump. There were also the ever popular staff v sixth form v parents relay, the obstacle race and to finish off - the staff v sixth form tug-of-war.
We were delighted to see many parents spectating and we hope they enjoyed the afternoon. Strawberries and cream and refreshments were available and the ice-cream van did a roaring trade.
Credit must go to the PE Department for their meticulous organisation of the afternoon - they did a superb job and it all went extremely smoothly. Thanks also to the technical sound team, groundsmen and caretakers, matron and all the teachers who helped with the individual events.
