Visit From Author Jo Cotterill

Visit From Author Jo Cotterill

Farnborough Hill Library was very excited to be kicking off its World Book Day celebrations this year with a visit from author Jo Cotterill on Thursday 22 February 2018.  With over 35 published books for children and young adults to her name, former actress and teacher, Jo, is passionate about reading and writing. During her visit she led writing workshops for Year 8 as well as meeting keen members of book clubs over hot chocolate at break-time.

During the workshops, Jo got the girls to take inspiration from a picture and to write a description from a character's point of view. The girls were very engaged with this activity and many read their descriptions out. Jo was very impressed with the imagination and style shown by our lovely Year 8s.

Jo Cotterill’s books are not just a good read but they also tackle topics that are relevant to today’s young people.  She has won numerous awards for her writing. She proved to be a very engaging speaker and we hope that meeting her has inspired the girls to read her books too.

Thank you to Mrs Mary Wilson for organising this visit and Year 8 and their teachers for giving Jo such a warm welcome.
