Following a rigorous application process and Hustings speeches, we proudly present our newly appointed Junior Leadership Team. Stepping into the role of Head Girl is Naeve, supported by our Deputy Head Girls, Niamh and Radhika. Adding their valuable skills and enthusiasm to the team are Gabriella, Holly, Alyssa, and Anna. Eager to connect with you, this dynamic team is already full of innovative ideas and ready to make a real difference in our school community.

Naeve – Head Girl

If you were to ask anyone who knows me, they'd probably say I'm the kind of person who is driven by curiosity about the wider world, which is perhaps why my A level choices inevitably lay in French, History and Politics! My curiosity is evident in my creative side too, whether I'm singing in the choir or getting into character for a school play. In addition, I’m currently in the midst of my EPQ, which questions the role that Ptolemaic queens played in the rule of Egypt. I have developed my fascination with history, since first studying the Tudors in Year 5, and am keen to develop it further at university.

Throughout my time at Farnborough Hill, I have enjoyed taking part in activities across the school, from the Upper School Production of Twelfth Night to DofE, Hockey and Choir. Just this year, I’ve been working towards my Gold DofE and my Grade 6 Flute. These experiences have allowed me to spread my wings and develop a wide range of skills, not to mention the confidence to push myself beyond my comfort zone.

Outside of school, I love to play Hockey. Being part of a team is truly something special, as it means that I get to meet a wide range of age groups and backgrounds, who all have a common interest.

As Head Girl, I would like to encourage everyone to make the most of the same opportunities to pursue what you are passionate about, as I have done. I aim to work with the JLT to create a collaborative environment, where everyone can achieve their full potential.

Niamh – Deputy Head Girl

Since studying the Tudors in Year 7, I’ve grown to thoroughly enjoy studying all about different periods of history, so it’s no wonder that this, along with Politics and Maths, are the subjects I am studying for A level. I would love to continue with History and Politics at university, as not only do I love learning about these areas, but I think that they will allow me to make a difference in the world.

This year, I have also had the opportunity to be a CAFOD Young Leader, coordinating events such as Culture Day and Sponge the Teacher as part of Sixth Form Charity Week. I’ve loved doing this, not only because I got to spend time with people I don’t normally see outside of lessons, but it gave me the chance to develop my leadership skills, something that I aim to continue with this year as Deputy Head Girl.

Outside of school, I am a competitive Ballroom and Latin dancer, having only recently had the pleasure to compete in the beautiful Winter Gardens ballroom in Blackpool! I’ve loved dancing all my life, having taken ballet classes since I was three, and I really enjoy how it allows me to express myself in a way that not only helps to clear my head but makes me happy as well.

Overall, I am very excited to have the opportunity to be Deputy Head Girl this year and work alongside my outstanding peers. I am looking forward to being able to give back to a school which has done so much for me over the last six years, and contributed so much to my own personal development. This year, I plan to bring my determination and commitment to the team, and I believe that together as a team we will be able to open up new opportunities for the whole school community.

Radhika – Deputy Head Girl

Starting my Farnborough Hill journey in 2018 as a Year 7, I now study Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Economics at A level. I aim to study Economics at university and have developed my passion for the subject through my EPQ, about the causes of the political business cycle. Complementing my studies, I have a decade-long passion for playing the piano and am now working towards my ARSM.

Throughout my time at the school, I have taken every opportunity possible to get involved in all that Farnborough Hill has offered me, from Music, Drama, academics or in other leadership roles. I am currently a CAFOD Young Leader, which has given me the opportunity to really engage with our school community as well as running fundraisers and assemblies to support CAFOD’s work across the world. Whether it be through working with Year 8 in Open Access, supporting the success of Culture Day, or organising charity events for Sixth Form Charity week, being a CAFOD Young Leader has been truly rewarding and has equipped me with invaluable skills I can take forward to being Deputy Head Girl and beyond.

I am very excited to take my next step in my journey at Farnborough Hill and be able to give back to the school in this leadership role. I feel thoroughly confident that with the rest of the JLT, we will be able to continue building the lively and compassionate environment which makes Farnborough Hill so special.

Holly

As a new member of Farnborough Hill this year, I have really enjoyed getting to know the school and I am absolutely thrilled to be a member of the Junior Leadership Team.

My A level studies in History, English Literature and Psychology keep me busy as they all demand essays! When I manage to escape the essay writing, I enjoy reading, tennis, fashion, walking my dog and cooking (followed by the best part – eating!). Singing and music have always been a big part of my life and there is rarely a quiet moment in our house! I’m constantly working on my voice and piano skills as I work towards my Grade 8 Singing exam this year.

I am very interested in entrepreneurship and I’m confident that by working hard at my subjects and throwing myself into everything the JLT and school has to offer, I’ll be able to develop the skills I need to one day run my own business. While I don’t have a business plan yet, I’m a firm believer in pursuing your passion, working hard and trusting that the opportunities and experience will naturally follow.

Throughout the JLT application process, I emphasised that I maintain a positive attitude and that I don’t take myself too seriously, adding humour where appropriate to help create an inclusive and welcoming environment. I hope I can bring that mindset to the JLT this year and help make the next academic year the best yet.  I look forward to working with the rest of the team to make this happen.

Anna

Academics have never come naturally to me, but with the support of Farnborough Hill, I now have the right tools to embrace and overcome any challenge. This sense of empowerment is one of the number of reasons why continuing my journey here into A levels - Maths, Physics and Music – felt like the most natural decision. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of our community and to be surrounded by people who have helped me throughout my years here. This school community has deeply helped me develop into the young woman I am today and my confidence has grown. Now, with a goal to pay forward the impact this school has had on me, I applied for a role on the Junior Leadership Team. I aspire to be a role model who is approachable, listens to their peers and encourages their ideas, in hopes that they too can develop into the best versions of themselves.

When I am not focused on my studies, I enjoy throwing myself into all things musical. Having been singing for as long as I can remember, I’m aiming to achieve Grade 8 this year. I frequently find myself sat at a piano, as I find that one of my best ways to channel my thoughts and feelings is into music. While I love to perform, I find myself drawn to listening to all of Farnborough Hill’s musical endeavours, and more often than not you will find me in the audience of various soirées and concerts.

I am incredibly proud to hold the title of the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Surrey, having risen through the ranks in the Army Cadets.  This part of my life has helped in developing my communication skills and learning lessons on how the world works.

I am truly thankful and extremely excited about what lies ahead for the Junior Leadership Team; I’m looking forward to working with these amazing individuals and to discover how we together can serve the Farnborough Hill community, just as they have served me over the last six years.

Gabriella

As a member of the future JLT, I am eager and honoured to take on this role and work with fellow team members to enact our legacy here at Farnborough Hill. My time at Farnborough Hill so far has been filled with several enriching opportunities and I am especially excited to help to introduce new initiatives to the school! This opportunity in particular will definitely have a lasting impact on myself as a person, and I’m ready to take on the challenge with enthusiasm and dedication.

I study Classical Civilisation, History and Politics, each one as stimulating and engaging as the other and I find myself challenged and inspired daily. I’m hoping to study Ancient History and Modern History at university; I enjoy variety so being able to focus on two different types of History will be exciting. This year, I along with many of my other peers, took on the challenge of the EPQ, my project delving into Ancient Greece which explored the characterisation of women in Homer's Iliad. It has been a wonderful experience to explore and extend my learning with something I’m really passionate about, and I aim to bring this passion and enthusiasm in my work with the JLT.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing Tennis several times a week, and whilst I don’t often compete, I value the social nature of the sport and the friendships I have built at my club, with both the young and the old - never underestimate them! My thrill in the sport has recently extended to coaching young children. It’s a rewarding experience watching them develop their skills and express their own love for Tennis and has highlighted to me the satisfaction of making a positive contribution. This experience reinforces my commitment to making a meaningful impact at Farnborough Hill through my involvement with the JLT.

Alyssa

I’ve secretly wanted to be a member of the JLT since I joined this school and once I found out I was going to be on this team, I was absolutely thrilled as I genuinely believe in what I have to offer this school. Everything I do, including my history with the CAFOD Young Leaders, many school productions, art exhibits, fashion shows and co-leading my House to victory in the House Music Competition, further motivated me to want to be a part of this amazing team of powerful women taking on leadership roles in Farnborough Hill. And honestly, doing super cool things! The kind of things I thought were cool when I was in Year 7 and first saw the JLT.

I believe in being community spirited, I’ve always made an effort to be a part of communities. Outside of Farnborough Hill I spent many years as a member of the Royal Air Force cadets, which was honestly one of the best experiences of my life, it was difficult and harsh, but one of the best collections of life lessons I’ve learnt, and a lot of fun. I've spent time coaching and working with children from the ages of 3 up to 15 in gymnastics coaching, working with teams and leading others.

I’ve always had a creative passion and have been studying Fine Art, Photography and Drama for my A levels. I wouldn’t have thought of myself as much of an artist a few years ago, my love of poetry, literature and performing has always been there, and I spent a lot of my life wanting to become an actress or writer, but it took one GCSE art lesson back in Year 10 for something to click as I realised, “this is what I want to do.” Living up to my true artistic nature, I’m now on social media with a public portfolio of my artistic journey.

Some of you will have seen me on stage at school, my favourite role as ‘Gomez’ in our 2024 whole school production of The Addams Family. To say acting is something I’ve always loved since I was a little girl is probably an understatement. Even with my path change toward Fine Art, I’ll always carry my years in the theatre with me and hope to make the most of it before heading to university and pursuing life as an artist.

So here I am, a little bit arty, a little bit fun, hopefully a little bit “cool,” and now a Junior Leader at Farnborough Hill.
