Maths Week has returned to Farnborough Hill with a blast of energy and logic! The week kicked off with a brilliant Whole School Assembly in which Radhika (U6MCB) and Emma (U6MCB) wowed us with their award-winning talk on the mind-bending reality of tying laces in 4-D. Not to be outdone, Georgia (L6WHI) and Lara (L6WHI) teased our brains with the Birthday Paradox. They challenged Year 7 to consider the likelihood that two or more people in their Year Group share the same birthday. In a group of just 23 randomly chosen Year 7s, there is more than a 50% chance that at least two individuals share the same birthday!

In our first-ever Pi Recital, Celine (7B) recited π to 77 digits and Arianna (7A) hit a staggering 144 places, while Emma (11B) left us all speechless by reciting a staggering 500 decimal places! Emma said: "Initially, I had a head start of 33 digits of pi, having learnt them for fun a year ago. Then, I learnt the rest of the numbers in chunks of 10. If I were to get stuck, I would imagine the website that I learnt the numbers from, visualise where the numbers were, zoom in mentally and almost read the numbers from my mind until I got the flow back." Phenomenal!

On Tuesday, girls raced through a treasure hunt using picture clues to find secret locations, discover codes and open key boxes whilst on Wednesday, Year Groups enjoyed a visit from guest mathematician, Zoe Griffiths.

Our incredible Catering Team put on a Pi-themed feast on Thursday - perfect fuel for a rowdy, fast-paced game of Countdown! With our Photography Competition also available to get stuck into, there has been something for everyone!
