We are delighted to introduce our newly appointed Junior Leadership Team! Leading the charge, our new Head Girl, Rose, and two Deputy Head Girls, Georgia and Matilda, are joined by a fantastic group of five fellow student leaders who round out this year's team. Their energy is sure to have a wonderful impact on our entire community! Read their full introductions below.
Rose - Head Girl
When I joined Farnborough Hill in Year 9, I immediately noticed the unique sense of community, pride, and support that defines the School. Coming from a very different environment, this community quickly became a place where I felt I truly belonged, genuinely transforming my confidence, outlook, and appreciation for school life.
Currently studying Psychology, Chemistry, and Biology with the ambition to pursue Dentistry at university, my A levels have sharpened my resilience, academic determination, and ability to thrive under pressure. I have always been interested in understanding people, Science and how healthcare can make a real difference to others.
As I approach my final year, I’m determined not to take my time at Farnborough Hill for granted. I really value what makes this school special and I want to play an active role in strengthening that sense of community. My key achievements include leading CAFOD initiatives, mentoring younger peers on GCSE transitions, and managing the Year 11 Prom - a role requiring extensive teamwork and composure under pressure. Through these contributions, alongside my work as a Prefect, Deputy House Captain, Assistant to the Head of Year 11 and recipient of the Lafosse Scholarship, I have developed strong public speaking skills and acted as a genuine, confident voice for the School at Open Days and on prospective parent panels.
As part of the JLT, I am incredibly excited to help girls feel prepared for life beyond school, champion pupil voice, create opportunities for girls to engage with the world around them and serve the community that has shaped me over the past few years.
Matilda - Deputy Head Girl
I’ve always been curious about how the world works and what shapes the events we see around us. Perhaps this is why my A level choices could be found in Mathematics, Economics and Politics: subjects that reflect my strong interest in current affairs and thinking critically about political and economic issues. As part of my EPQ, I am exploring American politics, with a particular focus on Trump’s first presidency.
Alongside my academic studies, I am currently working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which has helped me to build resilience, independence and confidence. I also volunteer regularly at Parkrun, where I’ve had the opportunity to meet a wide range of people in my local community. This experience has shown me the importance of giving back and being part of something bigger.
As a CAFOD Young Leader, I have improved my collaboration skills through the organisation of many events and fundraisers. It has also helped me to understand the significance of engaging with others and creating a strong sense of community. I’m really looking forward to building on this in my role as Deputy Head Girl, working with others, representing pupil voice, and contributing positively to school life.
In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching Hockey, this has strengthened my teamwork, commitment and determination and given me a great balance alongside my studies.
I’m very excited to take the next step in my journey at Farnborough Hill and to have the opportunity to give back to such a special school in the process. I can’t wait to work with the JLT to serve the School that has served us for the last six years.
Georgia - Deputy Head Girl
From the moment I first stepped into Farnborough Hill, I knew it was the right environment for me. Over the last six years it has become a second home and allowed me to grow into the person I am today.
I’m currently studying Business, English Literature and Mathematics at A level, with the ambition of pursuing a Business degree at university. Alongside this, I am completing my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which debates the ethical dilemma of whether psychologist Carl Jung would have approved of marketers using his theories on human behaviour to influence consumers, considering his original intent was to support mental health.
Beyond the classroom, I have embraced the breadth of life at the Hill. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, help organise events around the School and take part in School Production and Choir. I’m currently serving as a Mathematics Prefect too, which, if you told this me even a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed. As someone who started in Set 5, this was a true ‘I’ve done it’ moment which couldn’t have been possible without all the encouragement of my teachers.
Outside of school, I’m a swimming instructor at a local club. Teaching has been an incredibly fulfilling experience and I have been able to work with a range of different people, helping me develop resilience and adaptability, and to work in teams.
Lara
Since joining the School in Year 7, I’ve used every opportunity to get involved. From the muddy challenges of DofE to the fast-paced world of Young Enterprise and Netball matches, every opportunity has built my confidence and taught me the value of community and teamwork. More recently, you might have spotted me helping out as a Mathematics Prefect, or as one of the five Lower Sixth students who travelled to Lourdes over Easter. These opportunities have allowed me to put those skills into practice in ways that felt truly meaningful.
My next big goal is studying Medicine. Choosing Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Further Maths therefore felt like a no-brainer (even if it does mean I spend an unhealthy amount of time with Isabella!). My passion for Medicine stems from a love of problem-solving, Science and a genuine desire to help people.
While I’m still keeping my options open on what I’d like to specialise in, I would love to work for Doctors Without Borders, combining medical care with my love for travel by helping those in the world who need it most.
I am incredibly grateful for the support and opportunities Farnborough Hill has given me. As a new member of the JLT, I am so excited to give back to the community that has defined my school years and help shape it for the pupils coming through the School behind me.
Maria
Ever since joining the Farnborough Hill community, I have been eager to contribute to the Junior Leadership Team. For me, this role is an opportunity to transform pupil ideas into reality and enhance school life for every Year Group.
Throughout my time at Farnborough Hill, Sport has been a constant passion. While I enjoy everything with hand-eye coordination, from Netball to Badminton, Hockey is my highlight because nothing beats a supportive environment and the drive of working toward a common goal. This ‘team-first’ mentality extends to my role as an Arkwright Engineering Scholar and leader of the STEM Racing Club, where I mentor pupils in designing and racing miniature F1 cars competitively.
In Year 9, I was inspired by a lecture on nanoscale materials, at Imperial College, during a STEMettes festival. This sparked a passion for materials science which I plan to study at university. I am fascinated by the hidden structures of everyday objects, from iPhone screens to sustainable infrastructure, and the potential to develop new materials to help solve worldwide problems such as new, sustainable plastics and green forms of renewable energy.
I enjoy being an active member of our school’s Tomorrow's Engineers Robotics Challenge and being part of the Greenpower electric car race team. In my free time, I volunteer for a charity in Honduras, teaching STEM subjects online in Spanish to disadvantaged pupils.
Over the coming year, I look forward to organising successful events, launching new mentorship initiatives, and being an approachable, friendly face for pupils across all Year Groups.
Isabella
Having been at Farnborough Hill since Year 7, I now study Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Maths. My passion for Science, combined with a desire to help others, has fuelled my ambition to pursue a career in Medicine. I am particularly interested in neurosurgery, and have pursued this interest by doing my EPQ on the use of deep brain stimulation in medicine. Beyond my studies, I find balance through reading and baking.
A highlight of my Lower Sixth year has been serving as a CAFOD Young Leader. Organising events like Culture Day and mentoring younger pupils allowed me to refine my communication and leadership skills while supporting vital charitable work. Being a CAFOD Young Leader has helped me to develop my confidence, communication and leadership skills, and has made me all the more excited to start working as part of the JLT team.
I have always wanted to be a part of the JLT and I hope that I will be able to make a difference in the School community by encouraging communication between Year Groups, helping pupils feel more connected and ensuring that everyone feels listened to and represented.
Ella
If you had told me in Year 7 that I would be part of the JLT, I would have never believed you. Farnborough Hill has challenged me to evolve in ways I never expected, and it is a privilege to step into a leadership role within the JLT.
Currently studying Geography, Business, and Psychology, I plan to pursue Business at university. Alongside this, I am completing an EPQ into whether the benefits of exams outweigh their impact on student mental health. This research has deepened my resolve to ensure our school remains a place where every pupil feels supported and valued – a goal I aim to champion as a friendly and approachable member of the JLT.
My journey here has been defined by variety, from competing in different sports to practising piano, DofE and LAMDA. This has continued in Sixth Form, where I have developed my leadership skills as Business Prefect and Dutertre House Captain, alongside coordinating SVP charity events and assisting at many school events. Stepping outside my comfort zone in these roles has been so important and I want to encourage every pupil to embrace the opportunities available to them.
Outside of school, I am working towards my Grade 8 Ballet exam, having started when I was 4. I’m eager to bring the dedication and commitment instilled in me to this final year.
I look forward to giving back to the School that has given me so much, working alongside the rest of the JLT to encourage, support, and offer new opportunities for our school community.
Sofia
Participating in school life has been one of my highlights at Farnborough Hill but if you had told me six years ago that I would be in this position I wouldn’t have believed you! This journey has grown my confidence immensely which is why I know being part of the Junior Leadership Team will be such a rewarding experience.
I study History, Biology, and Chemistry and while the workload can be demanding, I enjoy it very much! My love for Science and History has definitely shone through in my EPQ which focuses on 17th century women. Looking ahead, I plan to study Biology at university so I can nurture my fascination with the natural world, though Midwifery is also something I am considering too. Ultimately, I know I want to work in a field where I can support and empower others.
When I am not studying, I enjoy reading in my spare time which has always been one of favourite things, allowing me to escape daily stresses and broaden my perspective. While I wouldn’t necessarily describe myself as ‘naturally’ artistic, baking provides a creative outlet where I can experiment and try new ideas.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to give back to Farnborough Hill with the confidence that has been instilled in me. I am eager to work alongside the pupil body and staff to contribute to the wonderful sense of community that makes our school so special.
