On Friday 27 June, the Farnborough Hill community came together to celebrate the achievements of Year 11 and Upper Sixth. The evening marked a major milestone for these pupils, bringing together staff, families and special guests, for a heartfelt celebration of all that has been achieved.
To begin the evening, Eloise (U6MAC) welcomed students, staff, parents, our guest alumna speaker Christina Macfarlane (2001), and our recently appointed Chair of Governors, Ms Helen Griffiths. She reflected on their journey through Farnborough Hill - celebrating not only the awards but the growth, resilience and broader achievements of every member of Year 11 and Upper Sixth. Eloise spoke about the challenges they have overcome, the support they have shown one another, and the importance of taking pride in how far they have come, as they look ahead to what will be next.
Following this, outgoing Head Girl, Delilah (U6MCB), delivered the annual View from the Hill. She spoke with warmth, sharing standout memories such as the Year 11 24-hour Endurance Challenge and Sixth Form Charity Week. Her pride in her time as Head Girl was clear, and her reflections captured the spirit of the year perfectly.
Mrs Young then delivered an uplifting speech, highlighting the wide range of achievements across every part of school life. Her pride in the young women was clear and she made it known that there was something to celebrate in every corner of Farnborough Hill.
The presentation of prizes was led by Deputy Head - Pastoral, Miss Sexton. It was wonderful to see everyone celebrated for their hard work, commitment, and the unique contributions they have made - through academic excellence, personal growth, service, or creativity.
A true highlight of the evening was hearing from guest speaker and Old Girl, Christina Macfarlane. Her speech was inspiring, heartfelt, and full of insight. She spoke fondly of her time at Farnborough Hill and gave us a glimpse into her career as a CNN anchor in news and sport. You can read more about her speech here.
Ms Griffiths also shared her reflections as Chair of Governors. It was a pleasure to welcome her to her first Prize Giving as Chair, and her kind words added to the sense of celebration and community that defined the evening.
At the end of the evening, Deputy Head Girl, Gabriella (U6SWI), delivered a sincere vote of thanks. Her appreciation for everyone who had made the evening so special - and for all the support pupils have received over the years - was clear in every word.
Throughout the evening, musical performances added a beautiful atmosphere. The Senior Choir sang beautifully, while solo performances by Sarah (U6SWI) and Isobel (U6MCB) at the start of the evening were particularly moving.
The 2025 Senior Prize Giving was a truly memorable evening - one that captured the heart of Farnborough Hill: a community built on encouragement, ambition and care. As Year 11 and Upper Sixth look ahead to exciting new chapters, this evening reminded them all of how far they've come and just how much is still to come.
