Our F’Hill Experience Taster Days, held last week and earlier this week, marked the beginning of the Farnborough Hill journey for many of the Class of 2033 as they joined us to try out life on the Hill.

Guided by an elite team of Year 11 and Upper Sixth girls, our very enthusiastic Year 5 visitors practiced their climbing techniques in PE, got hands-on in DT and embraced friendly competition in Maths. History buffs buzzed through secrets of the Old House while dramatists let their imaginations run wild in the black box of the Princess Studio. Every Year 7 subject was tasted, and the reports coming back from Year 5, Year 11 and Upper Sixth alike were phenomenal, with the Year 5’s sense of excitement and awe highlighting to the older pupils just how great this place is (a reminder they needed after weeks of intense studying and public exams!).

Lunch playtime was held on the Empress’s tennis court, and of course the Year 11s used the excuse of joining in with the visitors to embrace their inner child and run, roll and even cartwheel down the slopes. The Year 5s were only too happy to join in with this display of gymnastic ability and friendships blossomed under the glorious summer sun!

It was genuinely lovely to watch the girls head home, grinning from ear to ear with their hands full of the day’s creations, ready to regale their parents with stories from the Hill. And, as for our Year 11s and sixth formers, they were ready to put their feet up, impressed by the unbelievably high energy of the Year 5s.

These Taster Days are a true reflection of the authentic, whole-hearted spirit of our school and we thank everyone who plays a part in making them a success year on year. An extra big thank you to our amazing pupil helpers and, of course, to all the fantastic visitors!
